This ATC started with a piece of watercolor paper that my son painted a background on. I have several pieces in mottled colors that I'm cutting up and reusing for my own art.
I've been seeing a lot of cute primitive art lately. I particularly like the fabric ornies that people are creating. Then I saw some crows - well crows are a great symbol of power and I have always been attracted to them. So here is my second somewhat primitive crow.
Another bird for Illustration Friday. The theme this week is 'open.' I feel like I'm taking a psychological free association test: OPEN --> DOOR After that I can't think of anything else and have go with my first thought. Thanks for looking!
When my Autumn Joy sedum blooms, the Monarch butterflies come to feed. It's a beautiful sight when they're swooping around, landing and fluttering off again!
Decided to stitch up another bird ATC today. The background fabric is shimmery and I think it will be pretty in several projects.

I've decided to try some realistic sketches. I dusted off my copy of 'Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain' and re-read parts of it. Then I looked for a face on the web to use. I'm fairly pleased as it's my first attempt, but I'll be practicing.
If only art could bring peace and joy to the world!

This is for Illustration Friday - the theme is Alphabets this week. I decided to do mine before viewing everyone else's entries. But now I am hopping over there to see what great art other people have entered!

Some of my favorite things! I think I will draw some more castles - don't know why I haven't before....

My field mice visit every Spring and every Fall. How do they get in my house? Either they come in by cracks or they come in when my kids leave the door from the garage open. There is no experience the same as having a mouse stand up on it's hind legs and look you in the eye from across the room. I suppose this is a behavior of suburban mice who have no fear of humans!

This is my new style bird, inspired by a cut and layered and rubberstamped greeting card I saw on the internet.
Since I was ready for the letter C in my series of characters, the Illustration Friday theme this week of 'Captain' worked out perfectly. See letters A & B in my previous post.
Where, oh where has my little boy gone? He's followed the ducks down to the pond!
This is my Illustration Friday entry for the theme of 'Missing.' One early morning my four year old son wandered out of the house while I was still sleeping. When he came back, he told me he had followed the ducks and had trouble finding his way back home.
YAY - So glad to be on Blogspot and hope to connect with many artist friends. I enjoy all paper crafts and also dabble in fabric arts. This is a hand drawn ATC done in ink and watercolors.
