Found another art blog to participate in = more fun! Here are my pocket watches - there are three because of printer ink issues. I did a little image editing of a commercial photo to create my watch.
This week's tangle is Cockles-n-Mussels This has a great free-form flow to it. I'm posting this version with no shading because I'm planning to add pink and orange pencil - not sure how it will come out!
First a tiny version of Cockles-n-Mussels - this is a fun tangle!
And here is my shaded version of my first montangle.
This is my monotangle done with Knight's Bridge. It's the simplest of tangles and can be used a thousand different ways.
And while I'm playing catch up, I finished my monotangle from two weeks ago using Cadent. Cadent is one of my favorites, but I had never used it in a monotangle. I added color to distinguish the layers.
Meanwhile I have also missed The Bright Owl's challenges - there are only so many hours in the day - especially after the 8 hours at work. But here is a free form mandala that I drew recently.
And I have another hobby that consumes my time - I have been sewing birds!
The tangle for this week is called Verve. Here is my monotangle - I tried a different kind of string this time - one with some sort of shape :D And I added a bit of color, too.
This week the challenge is to redo a challenge template that was troublesome. Well, I had no issue picking out the worst, ugliest Zendala that I have posted. It was Dare 52 where part of the center was supposed to be replaced with Hollibaugh - instead of the 6 overlapping circles. Last time around, I drew a hot mess - LOL. This time I'm a LOT happier with the results!
Creating a zentangle from a blind string is the basis for this week's challenge. I had to close my eyes twice and draw two strings because the first one did not cover much of the area.
I admit to being a week behind for the monotangle adventure! This is the week 7 tangle - Onamato.
--@@@@@--
I also wanted to post my 3D project. It will be a small dodecahedron - each surface being roughly 2 inches square (or, more accurately, 1.25 inch sides.)
YAY - finished all my challenges this week! The Diva's challenge was to use box strings, one inside another. This left the choice of tangles a free-for-all LOL
W2 is the tangle this week. A fun geometric shape, but how to do the transition from one area to another in a monotangle became my challenge. Should the "strips" end abruptly or should they dangle over - LOL Here is my tile - decided to make a scalloped transition
While practising W2, I finished off a ZIA that I had half started.
Tuxedo is the required tangle this week. At first it seemed like a mess of lines going every which way, but when I completed it step by step, it came out cute!
For this monotangle we were to use Indy-Rella. I had not seen this tangle before, so I practiced all week on scratch paper. Below are a couple of my practice pieces. Being from Indy (Indianapolis) I feel like I should own this tangle and the more I drew it, the better I felt about it. It's easy to take on a flowing path.
I struggled with this adventure! Someone needs to invent more triangular tangles LOL I drew two and a half zentangles and then decided my first one was the best. Here it is done with Insydout.
Decided to finish the "half" monotangle that I had started. I think this tangle is Feathers.
I think I like this no box thing LOL. This is another larger piece about 6 x 5. I don't know why I thought I had to draw small Zentangles - unless it's the 5 or 6 years of doing ATCs and 4 x 4 chunkies. It's not like I don't have bigger paper :D
This week we were to think outside the box. I drew a large tangle (5.5 x 6.5 inches) and used a large pen - .35 mm - LOL I started my tangle in the center with no planned boundary. I just kept going until I felt like it had a finished balance.
Drawn for weekly Zendala Dare by The Bright Owl. The template is given and you get to fill it up as you please. I find them very relaxing because it's so repetitive. Tried some color on this one.
I was inspired by Roy and his tangled icosahedron. So I just had to try a tangled flexagon.
You can get detailed instructions for making a flexagon at Aunt Annie's Crafts
I drew variations of Rick's Paradox in all the triangles,
using six different ink colors for each side.
